"Fear is a powerful tool that the evil one has mastered. He knows just how to creep into the light and diminish things you love. However, God’s grace and provision is more powerful. Our God is by our side and fighting alongside us every step of the way with nothing but love.
I plan to join an Engage mission team and travel from my home in Manhattan, Kansas to Ireland this August for the first CIY MOVE conference in that country. I’ve attended mission trips since I was 7 years old, but this one will be far different because I want the students there to experience what I did at this conference.
God spoke directly to my heart in a moment at MOVE through speaker Hannah Geraci. Her message was about rebellion and obedience, and at first I thought “This isn’t for me,” because I rarely break rules, laws or act out. But I’ll never forget the way she said rebellion can simply be connected to straying away from what the Lord is asking of you, and I knew personally that anxiety and loneliness was keeping me shackled from God’s love and grace. I had faith in God, but the fear of what others thought of me kept me from acting in my faith. I realized His love was greater than any fear and worry I would ever have.

I was so overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit moving in that gymnasium and what He was doing in my heart that I committed my life to Kingdom work and to serve wherever the Lord took me.
When I came home, I joined my school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes club, and led several events to share my love of Christ with my school and community. I also started to use my love for art in a new way. I started drawing and writing pieces of scripture to post on social media, and I’m amazed by the ways God has used them.
When I heard about the Engage opportunity with CIY, God put it on my heart to be a part of it. MOVE has been such an integral part of my life and I want more young people in this world to experience the same truth that I did through this conference. After prayer, application and trusting God’s plan, I am so grateful to be accepted to go on this trip. I can’t wait to see the work the Lord is doing in this beautiful country.
I’m trying to stay aligned with what God wants for my life – which is hard as I try to plan for the future – but He constantly reminds me that He has everything in the palm of His hand through the love and support of my family and church. I have learned that God calls each and every one of us to be a part of His unique story, but my hope is to incorporate mission work into the field of nursing in my future.
In the meantime, I’m preparing my heart for what the Lord will teach me and for the hearts of the Irish students I will be forming relationships with. There is so much love to share with the world and all I want is to live my life doing exactly that.
