Chris Teeter’s story about how God used a powerful experience to change his life was shared with thousands of his peers at multiple MOVE events.

In light of the amazing changes Chris has experienced, he said the most impactful one has been the way he worships on the stage at his church.

Two years prior to attending MOVE, Chris was a member of the worship team because he enjoyed music. He said it was a time in his life when he didn’t believe in God and had no intention of ever believing.

“I saw it as a ‘I have to’ and it was a catalyst for anxiety,” he said. “I felt like I had to perform for the people. I didn’t view it as glorifying God and it put a wedge between me and my church.”

God moved in Chris’ heart during the MOVE conference last summer in various moments. He said as his peers opened up about their struggles and insecurities, a new sense of community was born, and he realized that weaknesses were what connected people. On July 12, 2018, Chris decided to give his life to Christ.

“When I came home, worship was a complete 180 from what it used to be,” he said. “What was a source of anxiety is now something that washes it away. Our worship team is now a close-knit family and we can go to each other with our problems. It’s a loving environment. It’s the same stage, same instrument with the same people but there’s this newfound love and joy.”

Chris encourages high schoolers to expect God to move in their lives – not just at MOVE, but upon the return home.

“On July 12, I was saved, but it didn’t make life any easier,” he said. “But now I have a Father who loves me and provides a way out for all those emotions I still experience. MOVE is beautiful and awesome but it’s so much more to go home afterwards and seek transformation. Don’t live like nothing happened. For me, it was a catalyst for such profound change. I was broken and hollow – darkest period of my life – and I came out of it with hope.”
