The evening was filled with a beautiful balance of looking back on all God has accomplished through the ministry of CIY and looking forward to what God will continue to do.
“God has gone before us for 50 years, and He will go before us again,” said Executive Vice President Jayson French from stage just moments after it was announced to the public that he would carry on the torch as CIY’s next president starting in September 2019. Andy Hansen, CIY’s current president and a member of the ministry for more than 35 years, will step down at president in September 2019 but remain on staff full time to continue to help with fundraising and partner development.
One of the members of the audience was Bob Stacy, CIY’s founding president. He and his wife Nell sat at a table at the very front of the auditorium, and they watched along with hundreds of others as CIY celebrated the rich history of the ministry alongside future dreams of what God could do in the next 50 years. Stacy is a man who has displayed an obedience to God’s dreams for an entire lifetime, and as such he immediately recognized that the opportunities French was presenting were ones that echoed the sentiments once given by himself 50 years earlier.
