I would first like to congratulate you and welcome you to some of the most exciting years of your life. I remember all the fears, insecurities and questions I had at your age. As your youth pastor I would like to offer some simple truths that you can carry with you as you embark on this journey.
Junior high is definitely a time when many young people go through the process of establishing friendships and figuring out their identity. Build healthy, authentic, God-honoring friendships – it should always be a mutual and supportive relationship. Friendships can last for a reason, a season or a lifetime, but the greatest friendship we can have is Jesus Christ. You can count on me to pray for your friendships – which includes ours.
In this time of self-discovery, learn to be confident in who you are and know God loves you as you are – not as you should be. Don't waste your time trying to be someone you’re not or trying to be someone you think others want you to be. Just be yourself … everyone else is already taken.
Remember you are BRAVER than you believe, STRONGER than you seem, SMARTER than you think and LOVED more than you know. Psalms 139:14 says, "I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful, I know this very well.”
Be wonderful, junior higher!
