Stepping into vocational ministry means walking on a path that blends your life's story with the narrative of the Gospel.
As you walk this path, your personal story becomes a picture of God’s grace and love. Sharing that story with others is also known as sharing your testimony – a word originating from the Latin word testis, which means “witness”.
Giving your testimony, simply means witnessing to the very real power of God interacting with your own unique life experiences. By sharing it, you're not just telling a story; you're revealing the reality of God's presence in your life, which in turn, glorifies Him.
In Acts 26, the Apostle Paul shared his testimony before a King! Paul wasn’t just trying to win an argument, be confrontational, or even call out bad behavior. His goal was to share the compelling and genuine story of his relationship with Christ, a heartfelt declaration of his own encounter with Jesus and how it changed his life.
In your vocational ministry, your story too can serve as a powerful testament to the reality and love of Christ.
Sharing it with yourself helps remind you of why you believe, how you've grown and changed for the better, and that you're never alone, especially when things get tough.
Sharing it with others helps them to connect with you on a human level, connect the gospel to everyday life, and can be an invitation for them to explore their own relationship with Jesus.
People are drawn to authenticity, and a sincere testimony helps prompt deeper conversations and questions about God and His role in our lives. The more your testimony is shared, the more it becomes a shining example of how Jesus can change life for the better – just like He did for you!
