Here at the end of this journey, where would you find yourself on a spectrum of “discovering your calling”?
Do you feel any closer to confirming a call? Do you hold a lot of doubt or fear? What other obstacles are in the way?
Can you look back at your notes along this journey and see any confirmations that you have logged?
Has God used people, scripture, prayer, or other things to give you full assurance that you’re meant to spend your life in vocational ministry?
Or are you somewhere in between?
Regardless of where you would place yourself, this journey was never about mapping out some sort of Life Plan.
This journey was about learning, practicing, and connecting. It was about abiding, exploring, telling, and equipping.
And now it’s about moving.
If a “calling” is WHERE your passions and God’s heart align, then your “commitment” is WHAT you do next with that.
Your commitment is what you choose to do next as you follow the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Down the line, you may hear this called an “assignment”. An assignment is a specific role you may fill because of your calling. It may be working in a specific church or for a certain ministry.
For those who do indeed move into a life of vocational ministry, your calling won’t change. But your assignments almost certainly will.
Your gifts and strengths will grow. Your season of life will evolve. Your community will shift.
But regardless of where you fall on the spectrum of vocational clarity, faithfulness is following the Holy Spirit in the right assignment for the right time.
Right now, we are not asking you to claim an assignment. But we are asking you to make a commitment.
